Going Green

The FTC has issued Green Guides for Environmental Marketing to address the many self-asserted claims that a particuluar product is "green" or "environmental friendly" or "biodegradable" or such claim. The problem is that the claims have become confusing to consumers and, unfornately, many have turned out to be unsupportable in fact.

Although the Guides are not enforceable regulations or uder the law, FTC has encouraged businesses to consider the guidelines when making such claims.

Are "green" claims crucial to the sales and marketing of your product? How have you substantiated claims? Do you use the FTC guidelines? Do you use third party certification? Which one?
